Meals on Wheels Long Beach provides our most vulnerable neighbors with two nutritious meals, five days a week.
For neighbors who are unable to grocery shop or cook for themselves, we’re a much-needed lifeline. Yet Meals on Wheels is so much more.
Our abiding commitment to homebound seniors and veterans includes a friendly visit from our kind and caring volunteers with each delivery. No other charitable program takes its job to heart like we do.

At 67, Afghanistan veteran Wayne B. faces a battle he never trained for—loneliness, hunger, and PTSD.
Living alone in Section 8 housing for veterans in North Long Beach, he has no family or friends nearby to lean on. His extremely limited income barely covers necessities, and cooking often feels impossible. Some days, he simply doesn’t eat.
Since October 2024, Wayne has been on the Meals on Wheels Long Beach waiting list, hoping for a hot meal and human connection.
For veterans like him, survival isn’t just about food—it’s about dignity and knowing someone cares.
As he waits, he clings to hope that help will arrive soon—not just with a meal, but with the reassurance that he’s not forgotten.
